Two Spells to Remove Illness by Leaving it in the Cemetery

Removing Illness by Three Matches Given to the Grave

Used for coughs, colds, and respiratory complaints.

Acquire: three wooden matches with a striker, a quiet cemetery where visitors are permitted, a small place of bare earth away from any grave marker.

Go to the cemetery in silence. Do not speak after entering the gates until the work is finished. Once you have located the area for your spell, strike the first match, saying:

“As I name the flame before my lips, so I name and know my illness. It is no longer hidden from me.”

Blow out the match with a single breath, saying:

“As the fire is blown away, so I blow the illness from me.”

Lay the spent match aside. Strike the second match. Blow it out. Say:

“Breath leaves fire,

sickness leaves flesh,

neither returns by the road it came.”

Lay the second match beside the first. Strike the third match. Blow it out as before. Say:

“Three flames burned.

Three breaths carried away.

What burned in fever

rests now to the silent earth.”

Dig a small hole in the cemetery soil. Bury the three spent matchsticks together. Cover them completely.

Place your hand upon the earth and say:

“May the earth keep what I surrender.

The living keep their strength.

The dead keep their silence.

And so it remains.”

Leave without looking back.

Removing Illness by Three Pins Given to the Grave

Used for pains, rashes, swellings, aching joints, and other troubles body complaints.

Gather three plain pins or needles, a cemetery where you will not be disturbed, bare earth that can be accessed without disturbing a grave. Before entering the cemetery, hold the three pins together in the left hand.

Touch the afflicted place lightly with the first pin.

Say:

“What clings to flesh,

I lift away.”

Touch it again with the second.

Say:

“What burns,

what aches,

what swells,

I cast away.”

Touch it a third time.

Say:

“Three touches loosen,

three touches free,

what troubled me

troubles me no longer.”

Carry the pins into the cemetery without letting them touch anyone else.

Find a quiet place of bare earth.

Push the first pin into the soil.

Say:

“Into earth.”

Push in the second.

Say:

“Under earth.”

Push in the third.

Say:

“Remain in earth.”

Cover the pins with loose soil if desired.

Lay your empty hand upon the ground.

Say:

“I leave the burden.

I carry only myself.

Earth receives.

I depart whole.”

Leave quietly without looking back or speaking until you have gone beyond the cemetery gate.
